Swedish  krona (crown)

The official currency for Sweden is the Swedish Krona (SEK) divided into100 öre.

Currency regime

Sweden is a member of the European Union, but the currency is not part of European Monetary Union.

The currency floats freely against the major currencies with the central bank using  inflation targeting and there is no formal target for the currency.

Commercial rates

As at February  2006, the krona was trading around 7.76 against the US dollar, 9.30 against the Euro and 13.6 against Sterling.

Tourist rates

On February 6 2006 the krona was valued at around 13.1 against Sterling.  For 1 UK pound you will, therefore, receive around 13.1 krona.
