Lebanese Pound
Lebanon officially uses the Lebanese pound as the local currency. The pound is sub-divided into 100 piastres.
Currency regime
The Lebanese pound is currently managed in a very tight band against the US dollar at around 1,500 - 1,515.
Commercial rates
On April 10th 2006, the Lebanese pound was trading at 1,504 against the US dollar, 1,820 against the Euro and 2,625 against Sterling.
Tourist rates
On April 26th 2006 the Lebanese pound dollar was valued at around 2,560 against Sterling. For 1 UK pound you will, therefore, receive around 2,560 Lebanese pounds.
US dollars are widely accepted and cash should be taken in dollars
