Croatian kuna

Croatia officially uses the Croatian kuna as the local currency. The kuna is divided into 100 Lipa

Currency regime

The Central bank effectively manages the kuna in a band against the Euro with the kuna kept within a 15% band around a central rate.

Commercial rates

On July 30th 2007, the Croatian kuna was trading at 5.35 against the US dollar, 7.32 against the Euro and 10.83 against Sterling.

Tourist rates

On July 30th 2007 the kuna was valued at around 9.97 against Sterling.  For 1 UK pound you will, therefore, receive around 9.97 kuna.

Note. The kuna tends to weaken significantly during winter and then strengthen during summer as the tourism revenue has an important impact on the currency. If a holiday is arranged well in advance, it is advisable to buy the kuna you need during January - March.
