Chad (CFA franc)
The official currency for Chad is the CFA franc (Communaut Financiaire Africaine). The currency is also used in a total of 14 West African and Central African states.
Currency regime
The CFA franc is fixed against the Euro at 655.96 and will, therefore, fluctuate against the US dollar and Sterling.
Commercial rates
On June 8th 2006 the CFA franc was valued at around 512.5 against the dollar, 655.9 against the Euro and 953.2 against Sterling.
Tourist rates
On June 8th, 2006 the CFA franc was valued at around 925 against Sterling. For 1 UK pound you will, therefore, receive around 925 CFA francs.
Travellers cheques are best taken in Euros
Important note: Only CFA francs issued by the Bank of Central Africa will be accepted. Notes from the Bank of West Africa will not be accepted.
