Central African Republic (CFA franc)
The official currency for Central African Republic is the CFA franc (Communaut Financiaire Africaine). The currency is also used in a total of 14 West African and Central African states.
Currency regime
The CFA franc is fixed against the Euro at 655.96 and will, therefore, fluctuate against the US dollar and Sterling.
Travellers cheques are best taken in Euros
Important note: Only CFA francs issued by the Bank of Central Africa will be accepted. Notes from the Bank of West Africa will not be accepted.
